Irish Language Distance Learning at the age of 3!

I’m currently half way through an 8 session Irish course held once a week here in Matsue.

While the youngest member is a fifth class of primary school (elementary),

One determined 3-year-old who couldn’t manage to work the class into his busy schedule is working hard at home to keep on top of his Irish learning.

Last night’s lesson consisted of colouring in a picture of two kids playing hurling (irish sport).

Beirt páistí ag  iomáint

But how he actually interpreted the picture:

Seemingly to a three-year old from Matsue, this girl is actually a samurai, cos it looks like a man,

‘he’ has golden hair, and is holding a sword (well if he’s a samurai I guess it’s only natural that he have a sword!),

and the light shining from the sword is reflected in his eyes,

masterful use of the yellow crayon ^-^

And here’s the little artiste in question:

      話の内容はねぇ、この三歳児はスケジュール的には忙しいため、今会館でやってるゲール語講座には参加できないけれど、うちでは頑張って通信教育的な参加者って感じ。後は、メモに書いてるどおり、ハーリングやっとる女の子は剣を持ってるサムライさんになったことなど~
