Yakumo-an(八雲庵)

DSC_2205_01The noren (cloth banner) hanging out front garners the entrance to Yakumo-an, a quaint soba restaurant located on shiominawate, a street preserved in the style of Edo. The kamo-nanban soba (duck & buckwheat noodle) dish served here is popular with both tourists and locals. So I said I may give it a try myself!

And here’s what I got! Pretty appetising right?

DSC_2194_01There’s not much more you could ask for on a wet and cold day to warm you up, than this tasty soupy duck and noodle dish. And for only 900yen, it’s quiet a bargain too. Yakumo-an also has a cute handmade English menu, which comes complete with photos of each of the dishes.

Yakumo-an also has a nice garden area to wander around or look out on over your meal.

So if you happen to be in the shiominawate area, I recommend this place to refuel ;-)

  1. Ooooo duck! Yum! I definately never heard of duck and soba noodles! If you like soba, there is a nice little place called “funatsu” near your work, you may have already been tehere. they have their menu only in japanese (with no pictures) so best to ask one of your japanese colleagues to eat together.
